It is a seventh generation game and succeeds the Nintendo GameCube. The Wii lags behind the PS3 and Xbox 360 in the realm of graphics and multimedia. But, there is a built-in Wi-Fi which allows accessing free online services and increases overall game play for users.

A feature of the Win Wii gaming console is the wireless controller called the Wii Remote. It is largely responsible for the overall popularity of the win Wii. It can mark out acceleration in three dimensions. The WiConnect 24, another feature, causes it to receive messages and updates over the internet while in standby mode. Till date 13.17 million units have been sold. It is popular with most mainstream gamers and senior citizens and children. This is mainly because of its motion sensitive controller. It was first made available on November 19, 2006. It sold 259,000 units in the United States solely in march 2007. The win Wii is a clear winner because of its special features like its wireless controller which is motion sensitive.

The Win Wii was nicknamed the Revolution. It held the name till April 27, 2006. It is the first game home console that Nintendo has marketed outside Japan without the company name featured in its trademark. The manufacturers say the Wii in the name resembles ‘we’ which emphasizes that the console is for everyone. The word Wii can be remembered by people around the world, everyone, whichever language they may be speaking. There is no need for an abbreviation either. Three is no confusion. That makes the name unique. The Win Wii has truly worked a revolution in the world of gaming consoles.
