Running Your Car On Cooking Oil?

By: Joseph Then

Diesel has been popularly used to run big automobiles. Among these vehicles include mack trucks, tractor-trailers, bulldozers, some German cars. But it was never popular as fuel for conventional cars, which is really a shame, because diesel could have saved you lots of money.

Diesel is basically a lesser refined gasoline type whose processing cost is around twenty five percent less per galloon although gasoline's end product costs a bit less than diesel.

But the advantage of diesel is that it gets both better fuel economy and produces less pollution than regular gasoline, which is why it's so popular in the industrial fields. There's no particular reason that diesel was never preferred for regular vehicles, aside from theimpression that diesel engines were initially intended for industrial vehicles.

Diesel prices have risen just like gas prices have, so they haven't become especially popular as a means to save on gas. Moreover, the trend shows that diesel based vehicles fall under the category of pick up trucks and foreign cars which are not for city driving.

If there is one advantage of diesel based vehicles, it is their ability to burn a variety of fuels falling under diesel category. One popular type is known as biodiesel.

As the name might have you thinking, biodiesel is made from organic sources. It's become so popular commercially that it's become necessary to make the distinction about what kind of diesel you're talking about.

However despite its sustainable sources of inputs, biodiesel is not the answer to your piling gas bill since the rate tends to be more costly than the regular gas

What you might not know is that there's another kind of biodiesel out there. You can actually put used cooking oil in your diesel carand it will run without any kind of modification to the engine. This appears to be strange but diesel engines were actually designed for such purpose.

When Rudolf Diesel invented the diesel engine, the point was to create an engine that would run on vegetable oil, so that small farmers could compete with those who could afford the more expensive gasoline.

The opportunity to save cash is knocking on your door. They are definitely happy to turn over their used oils to you to put in productive use.

The thing is, you can run your car for free if your mindset is to put into practice and learn about using vegetable oil to run your car. In a sense, you can claim that it is a significant improvement over four dollars a gallon.
