This act protects all from age discrimination; even those who are aged 40 to 59. You must recognize that you do not lose your rights in the workplace just because you are a baby boomer. Age should not be a factor and should not cause you to become unemployed. Because of age discrimination, finding a job in the US is very hard for people in their p40s and 50s. Unfortunately, people who are only in their 40s and 50s can suffer discrimination in the workplace by fellow coworkers as well as their employers. They were growing old and some are alienated by fellow workers, just because some baby boomers lost their jobs. The ADEA falls under the administration of the EEOC. Be aware that discrimination against workers who are in their 40s or older has been illegal since 1967. It is every citizens right to have equivalent opportunity to pursue a career as any other human being. Baby boomers are dispirited and depressed, according to popular belief. People from the baby boomers generation are often the first target of layoffs. These policies created can be extremely troublesome to the baby boomer population. The idling economy is strongly linked to age discrimination. Age discrimination often rises as the number of opportunities falls. There should be no discrimination in the business world. Americans have been subjected to quite a bit of discrimination. Many people were discriminated because of their specific gender, race, religion, or age. These discriminatory behaviors are not only unethical, but also illegal. Under the jurisdiction of the EEOC and civil law, every US citizen should have fair and equal opportunity to pursue a career, and not be discriminated against based on age, gender, religion, or race. Because of this, be sure to know the rights you have as a citizen. If you feel you may be a victim of age discrimination, contact the EEOC and give information about the discrimination incident that occurred during the job application or during a layoff. If you can remember your rights, you won't ever be discriminated against because of your age. When problems of discrimination arise in the workplace, ADEA and EEOC will be able to offer you assistance to ensure that you are treated fairly.
